How do we install Quietwalk? Which side faces down on concrete?

Quiet Walk Installation

1. Be sure the sub-floor surface is clean and dry.*

2. Roll QuietWalkTM Floating Floor Pad over the subfloor with the vapour barrier film facing up to allow the floating wood to slide easily over the surface.

3. The perimeter edges of QuietWalk TM need to be ½ in to ¾ in (13-20 mm) away from the wall.

4. Padding materials need to be butted together flush at the seams.Peel the protective backing off of the tape strip from one section and press the overlap of vapour barrier from the next section onto the strip for an instant seal.

5. Install laminate flooring according to the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

*In geographic areas where concrete slabs are subject to excessive moisture, a calcium chloride moisture test is recommended. Vapour emission readings in excess of 3 lbs. per 1,000 ft2 (1,46 kg per 100 m2) in 24 hours will require additional protection such as a concrete sealant or polyethylene sheeting.

NOTE: All rolls of QuietWalk TM are cut to a minimum of 100 ft2 (9,3 m2). The average thickness of QuietWalk TM is 0.125’’ (3 mm). The average weight of a roll of 100 ft2 is 13.8 lbs. (6,2 kg.). Due to the nature of our manufacturing process and the use of recycled materials, the pad thickness may vary +/- 0.02’’ (0,5 mm).
Actual weight of each roll may also vary +/- 2 lbs. (0,9 kg.). While it may appear that one roll is slightly larger than another, we guarantee this variance DOES NOT affect the coverage area nor the sound absorption benefits of the product.
