Repairs to chips and scratches in laminates

Use the ColorFill kit.

Directions:
Clean area with a white tissue moistened with ColorFIll solvent, never use thinners or other solvents. Open the tube and squeeze out a liberal amount of ColorFill onto a flat steel spatula or putty knife. Place the blade behind the damaged area and draw back over the damage filling the chip or scratch with material, pressing firmly to leave as little excess on the surface as possible. Using a spatula carefully scrape off the overfill around the damage avoiding the filled area which may still be wet then wipe around the area with a solvent moistened white issue. It is important to keep the spatula clean at all times to ensure a smooth finish. Depending on shrinkage and depth of the damage a second or third application may be necessary. It is possible to build up as many layers as required to build up the surface, remembering to clean off the overfill between each application. Finally leave the repaired area to harden completely for 2 hours at least then clean with soapy water.

How do you repair a panel?

Although Quickstyle Laminate Flooring is very tough, accidents can still happen and one of the panels may get damaged. In most cases minor damage can be repaired using the Quickstyle repair kit but when it's necessary to replace a panel, this technique should be followed:

Step 1
With a circular saw, cut out center of damaged panel. (Note: adjust the blade height to the thickness of the panel). First, remove centre piece, then loosen remaining end pieces and pull-out.

Step 2
Insert a small metal or wood rod (1 / 2" diameter) directly under the tongue and groove of the remaining piece. Lightly tap on the remaining piece with a hammer in order to break the bond between the tongue and groove. Remove the two (2) remaining pieces and thoroughly clean-out the four (4) seams of the adjacent panels.

Step 3
Prior to installing the new panel B, remove: Bottom edge of groove on the entire length of panel and the tongue on the full width of panel

Step 4
Insert glue into the groove of of panel A and spread glue to the tongue of panel C. Now insert panel B into groove of panel A and place groove of panel B on top of tongue of panel C.

Step 5
Place weight on panel B and let glue set for a minimum of 3 hours before walking on the floor
